Laboratory of Multispectral Analysis and Artificial Intelligence for Sediments (LAM+)

LAM+ was conceived as a multi-user infrastructure dedicated to the high-resolution analysis of sedimentary sequences, integrating hyperspectral imaging, X-ray fluorescence core scanning, sediment radiography, electron microscopy, compositional characterization, and artificial intelligence.

The laboratory was built with funding from FAPERJ, under the “EDITAL FAPERJ Nº 13 – Programa de Apoio às Fronteiras da Ciência e Inovação RJ – Infraestrutura Multiusuária em Equipamentos de Grande Porte – 2ª Edição – 2024”.

Strategic project

INOVA — Innovations in Multispectral Approaches with AI

The INOVA project was approved under FAPERJ Call No. 22/2025 – PENSA RIO Program, aimed at supporting the study of relevant and strategic topics for the State of Rio de Janeiro.

The initiative will use the LAM+ infrastructure in three main fronts: reconstruction of climate variability, assessment of coastal ecosystem health, and identification of strategic minerals and elements.
