LAM+ Welcomes UFF Rector During Inauguration of the Institute of Geosciences’ New Laboratory Wing

During the inauguration of the new laboratory wing at the Institute of Geosciences of Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), the Laboratory of Multispectral Analysis and Artificial Intelligence for Sediments (LAM+) welcomed a visit from the University’s Rector, Prof. Fábio Dias.

On this occasion, Prof. André Belém presented the laboratory’s analytical facilities, including its hyperspectral imaging system, and explained the different techniques and equipment used in its research activities. The visit highlighted studies conducted at LAM+, particularly those integrating multispectral technologies and artificial intelligence tools applied to the geosciences.

The visit also provided an opportunity to emphasize the importance of support from the Carlos Chagas Filho Foundation for Research Support of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FAPERJ), particularly through the Fronteiras da Inovação and Pensar Rio programs, which made much of the laboratory’s instrumental infrastructure possible.

The inauguration marks a milestone in the consolidation of the Institute of Geosciences’ shared research facilities, expanding opportunities for research, technological innovation, and human resources development at UFF.
